APPEARANCE

Appearance is a loaded word in today’s world.  Whether we are making one, keeping up one, or creating one, we all strive to achieve that goal in a certain fashion.  Here is what my class had to say on this topic.  Enjoy1

1 Samuel 16:7 says,” God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Appearance is a huge thing in today’s world. We often judge people on their appearance and not who they are inside, we might not see them the same as others, but the Lord does. The Lord does not look at your appearance when he decides who comes into the kingdom of God, He looks at your heart, and who you are. We should not judge people according to what they look like but how they act. Sometimes if they don’t act as a child of God you can use that as a opportunity to teach them His good works.

    • Chloe says:

I strongly agree with you. There is more to people than their appearance, and God sees that. We only see whats on the outside but God sees past that.

    • Emmerson says:

I agree. We should always give people a chance to show their true personality, and not judge based on appearances. Just because society says it’s right doesn’t mean we have to follow it.

    • Emily O. says:

I like how you converted the subject into being able to help people learn more about God, because then you just stated about two major problems in today’s society. I really like how your statement about the outward appearance of someone is not who they are.

God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the LORD looks at the heart. – 1 Samuel 16:7 –

Appearance is what you may think is the first impression or how you look and dress everyday. But really appearance is how we act in the inside. It is how we show ourselves to other people and to God. God does not look at what we look like and how we dress everyday. But instead He looks at what is in the inside and how we act towards others, how we appear to Him. Today people all around the world judge you by how you look and what your appearance is to them. They do not see what is in the inside, but only the outside.

    • rylee says:

I agree with this, because people generally don’t care about whats in the inside just about your appearance but God cares he looks at the inside of you while others look at the outiside. You don’t have to have a first impression with God.

    • jase easley says:

i agree because like you said it doesnt matter what you look like its how you act that shows your true appearance and thats all that God cares about

  3. Harrison Bender says:

” God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart”

Society has built themselves on apperance. We judge people on what they look like and not because of what they do, because thats human nature.Of course if something doesn’t look good then why should we like it? We justify what someone does on apperance and we dont think that’s wrong. But no matter how you look God will still love you because he doesnt care about appearance but he cares about how live your life in a christian way. Because in the end appearance wont matter in heaven. Because we will all be beautiful in heaven.

    Appearance
God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the LORD looks at the heart.~1 Samuel 16:7

We as imperfect people judge others by looks. We do not just look at their appearance, but also the appearance of the things and people around them. We think that just because a person lives in a small house that they are poor. We think that just because they are of a different race that they somehow have different feelings. We think that these earthly things matter… but they don’t.

God does not judge a person by their appearance, their house, their family, their job, he judges them by what really matters… their hearts. He judges what the person thinks of others, what they feel, and their motives. God does not care what you look like because in heaven those things won’t matter anymore. In heaven you will be perfect. No matter what you looked like, or worked like, or lived like. God will still love you all the same.

That is what we should try to do. We should try to get to know people. We should try to learn about them. We should treat them as if they are ourselves, because you know what, if earthly appearances do not matter then they are exactly like you. That person of a different race or religion is the same as you on the inside. They have been created in God’s reflection so that we might all be the same on the inside. It just takes a little while to get there.

    • Natalie says:

I agree with your article, because we often judge people of what they look like or how much money they have. God sees past that and he knows that we are his creation; very good article.

    • Harrison Bender says:

Very thought provoking and inspirational. I like how you described us as being created in Gods image and your amount of details.

    • landri says:

I agree with you when you said that people judge by if they live in a small house they are poor because it could be false. Some people might like living there but in fact do have enough money to buy a new house. Also everyone should start to meet new people and really get to know them before judging them

    • rylee says:

I agree completely ,because when we go to Heaven those things that we once thought were important won’t be. The only thing that will matter is whats on the inside not on the outside race, job, house won’t matter anymore.

  5. rylee says:

Sometimes people just look at your appearance or judge you by your appearance. Appearance means the outward or visible aspect of a person or thing ; look, visual aspect. Here are some Bible verses about appearance; ~”God does not see the same way people see.People look at the outside of a person, but the LORD looks at our heart.”~ People see you differently then how God see you, people judge you by your appearance but God doesn’t. When everyone eles is looking at the outside God looks at our heart and soul.~”Stop judging by the way things look, but judge by what is really right.”~ Appearances are often deceiving.

    • landri says:

I agree with you when you say that God looks at your heart and your soul. Also how people see you differently than God does because people don’t like to look what is in the inside but only of what is on the outside.

Your right society always builds on appearance but the important thing is that we do what is right in our hearts because like you said appearances won’t matter in heaven.

    • jase easley says:

I completely agree with you that society has basically just judged people off of appearances and that is how people have been for a while

  7. jase easley says:

    1 Samuel 16:7
God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person but God looks at the heart.

This statement is very true because most of the time people often look at people and determine what kind of person they are. This saying is very good advice “never judge a book by its cover” which people often do wrong. We need to know the person and what they do before we just judge them based off of appearance. There are so many things that bring people down in the bible just by talking about there appearance.

  8. Chloe says:

In the world we live in, appearance is an important part of life to people. To God, appearance is whats in your heart, and what we believe. To people, appearance is what people see on the outside. In our world many people are judged by the way they look, but most people judge people when they don’t know the kind of life they have. Appearances have become so important, that they can determine what kind of job you have, or what reputation you have. Some people may appear more confident then others, and some may appear more shy. Your appearance determines the first thing people think when they see you, because they only can see the outside, unlike God. Jesus was God’s only son our Lord, and he was born in a barn, and his earthly father was a carpenter. It was probably hard for most people to believe that their king was born in a barn, because they could only see the way Jesus looked, and once they believed, they saw realized He was their Lord. It is important to have a good appearance in our world, but it is even more important to have a good heart.

    • Emmerson says:

I agree. If people argue that judging by appearance is okay to do, we should point out that our Lord and Savior wasn’t a king, but a poor kid that was born in a barn. Good wording!

    • Ty Pesl says:

I really liked how you gave examples of people and there appearances and then ended it with a good sentence. good job!

    • Harrison Bender says:

It was inspirational and I like how you included good examples form the bible and linkng us to him.

  9. Ty Pesl says:

Appearance- the outward or visible aspect of a person or thing
Have you ever thought what the world would be like if every one right now turned blind
of course we would all be dead but putting that aside how would we tell which apples are the ripest. or how would we tell if the person asking if he can use your phone is actually going to steal it or get personal information off it. Would life be any different? Would it be so bad if we couldn’t judge people by there appearances? Every day we look at a person and judge them by there appearance. So ask yourself would it be better if you couldn’t judge by appearances?

    • Emily O. says:

I like how you gave the reader something to think about. It gives a really good message about how much we rely on our sight and view of the world even though it is not really what matters. It really makes people think when you ask good philosophical questions like that.

    • Chloe says:

I like the way you wrote and showed that there were good things about appearances and bad things. I like how you mentioned the pro’s and con’s about if we couldn’t see. Our world would obviously be different, but it could be better or it could be worse. It depends on how you look at it. I like how you wrote in comparisons.

  10. Emmerson says:

    Appearances are often deceiving. -Aesop-
Have you ever wondered how other people judge you? Do they just see the way you look, or do they know the way you act, the way you are? You might even look at yourself in the mirror and think that your appearance doesn’t match your personality. Your appearance can distract from your true self. Don’t let that stop you from achieving your dreams, though. Aim high and reach higher.

  11. Natalie says:

I agree with you fully, we often let our appearance turn us in to something that we aren’t. We need to know that God sees past all of that, and none of that will matter in heaven.
